Nice hotel, affordable in quiet neighborhood with minimal noise. 7-Eleven is conveniently located right outside. Nothing special otherwise, not like we will be staying here long

Day 1 - Wednesday, Nov 12 (Flight to Bangkok)

  • Arrive: 16:00 at Suvarnabhumi Airport
  • After 11 hours of travel
  • The humidity is immediately noticeable
  • SuperRich for cash exchange
  • Exchange rates are better in Thailand than in home countries
  • Cash is widely used in Thailand, so bring wallet

  • Also got unlimited data plan for 30 days for 999 baht. No need for international roaming plans
  • Public transport can be confusing when using Google Maps
  • Took taxi to hotel due to fatigue and unfamiliar routes
  • Arrived at hotel and dropped everything off

  • Essential 7-Eleven trip to get supplies and break down large bills.

Day 2 - Thursday, Nov 13 (Full Day Bangkok)

  • Around 2am there was a massive thunderstorm with continuous lightning and thunder
  • Woke up around 8am feeling the effects of jet lag

Impressive collection of Buddha statues throughout the temple complex.

After visiting these two temples, temple fatigue set in.

  • Tried Durian - interesting taste, very creamy with a distinctive aroma 😂

The market operates mainly on weekends, so many stalls were closed.

Fatigue and jet lag caught up, so decided to head back.

Discovered Thailand’s creative noodle dishes, they can be seen everywhere 😂

Had dinner from 7-Eleven.

Got Mangosteen from the market - good taste with a garlic-like appearance

Thailand’s proximity to the equator means consistent sunlight throughout the year

Called it an early night.

Day 3 - Friday, Nov 14 (Morning in Bangkok)

Woke up at 5 am and stayed awake planning other parts of the trip. Planning to head to the airport at 9, so got 7-Eleven food beforehand.

Thoughts
#

  • Very busy city
  • Google Maps doesn’t always provide the best public transport directions
  • Has lots of Temples that you get a bit tired looking at
  • The city is well-prepared for tourists
  • Shopping malls and public transport has AC which blasts you so need to bring a coat for those spots.
